Arno Victor Dorian //  1768 - Unknown

Having witnessed the aftermath of his father's death at the hands of the Assassin turned Templar, Shay Cormac, Arno blames himself. He is taken in by François de la Serre, the Grand Master of the Parisian Rite of the Templar Order. While in his care, a lifelong bond of friendship and love is formed with his daughter Elise.

Years later, having not been invited to a party held in Elise's honor, Arno decided to attend anyway. It is there he witnesses the murder of François, a murder for which he is then accused and thrown in prison for. While there he meets Bellec and learns of his Assassin heritage.

On the invitation of Bellec, Arno joins the order and sets about trying to find the killers of his adoptive father and those behind the Revolution. It's during this time that he comes across a man known as the silversmith, François-Thomas Germain.

With information gleaned from Germain, Arno assassinates Lafrenière without consent from the Council. There he learn's of an attempt on the life of his lover Elise, who is now a Templar, having been inducted on the night her father was murdered.

After rescuing Elise and bringing her in front of the council, Mirabeau agrees to hear her out. Bellic has other plans, murdering Mirabeau and framing Elise. Meanwhile, Arno learns of Germain's true allegiance from Elise, and they set off to inform Mirabeau. Finding him dead, Arno tracks down the true culprit, Bellic, and kills his mentor.

Under orders from the council, Arno retrieves incriminating letters between Mirabeau and the king, meeting Napoleon in the process. From there Arno once again teams up with Elise to take down those behind the revolution, confronting Germain at the execution of King Louis XVI.

Having spurned the chance to kill Germain in favour of protecting Elise, Arno finds himself in front of the Council once again. Having been spurned by Elise for his decision to protecting her, it is now the Council's turn, as Arno finds himself expelled from the Order.

Drunk and alone in Versailles, Arno relives the memories of his past, eventually meeting Elise who persuaded him to return to Paris. Before doing so, Arno releases Versailles from it's reign of terror and learns of Robespierre's involvement with the Revolution. Confronting him in Paris, he informs him of Germain's whereabouts setting up a final confrontation with the new Grand Master.

Confronting Germain in the crypt, Elise is mortally wounded in the ensuing melee, leading Arno to kill him and learning the truth. Once again Arno seeks solace in the bottom of a glass, this time in Franciade, where he undertakes a task to retrieve a manuscript for the Marquis de Sade.

With the aid of an orphan named Leon, Arno retrieves the manuscript and stumbles upon a mysterious temple beneath the town. There he learns of Napoleon's involvement in the hunt for a mysterious First Civ artifact, and sets about retrieving it. Upon retrieval of the artifact, a lantern known as The Head of St. Denis, Arno finds it contains an Apple of Eden and returns it to the Brotherhood by way of Egypt and Al Mualim and out of the clutches of Napoleon.

Years later, Arno and Napoleon return to the crypt where he killed Germain. The reasons for this are unknown....
